"I can’t say enough good things about Catelyn Shaffner and her State Farm crew! I was with Dean Gleason from the time I was 17, until about 45 years old. "We had a horrible experience with this office. They insured us throughout our new home buying process, knew how old our roof was, then cancelled our insurance one week after we closed on the home due to "roof deterioration." This made it nearly impossible for us to find another carrier, forcing us to look into replacing the roof before it needs to be replaced. Also, had we known this was going to be an issue with the insurance company PRIOR to closing, we may have brought it up and renegotiated pricing on the home. Stay far away from here. They do not do proper underwriting."

That said, I do want to clarify that underwriting decisions and property inspections are handled directly by State Farm’s corporate underwriting team — not by our local office. We insured the home based on the information provided at the time, and while we were aware of the age of the roof, the cancellation was ultimately based on the condition of the roof, not it's age. We were not involved in the decision to cancel the policy and were not made aware of the report findings in advance. While I understand your disappointment, it’s important to note that we do not have the authority to override or predict underwriting outcomes. Our team is always happy to help navigate these situations, but we do not perform inspections or make the final decisions regarding policy eligibility.
